Our Major Projects

1. We support the abolition of nuclear weapons in particular by supporting the work of the Canadian Network for the abolition of Nuclear Weapons (CNANW).  The goal of this group is to work for the urgent conclusion of a convention that will set forth a binding timetable for the elimination of nuclear weapons worldwide.  This goal is also the primary goal of the international coalition called Abolition 2000.

For information on the campaign for the abolition of nuclear weapons in Canada, check the home page for the Canadian Network for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons (CNANW) at

LSR participated in the preparation of the model legal brief for the International Court of Justice on the question of the legality of the use and threat of use of nuclear weapons.  For the text of the ADVISORY OPINION of the INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE ON NUCLEAR WEAPONS:

This decision is the result of the work of the World Court Project.

Basic information on nuclear weapons can be found at the sites of the
peace/research groups
.

2. The abolition of landmines through our own projects and through our support for Mines Action Canada, the national coalition of peace, development, human rights, amputee etc. groups working for a ban on the production, transfer and use of landmines and for the substantial allocation of funding for demining, mine destruction and amputee assistance and rehabilitation.

In Canada, landmines activities are coordinated through Mines Action Canada.
